Farida P claimed a notable victory at the sixth round of the UAE President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses, held on June 6 at Gardet Turf Racecourse in Stockholm.
The event coincided with Sweden’s National Day and attracted more than 50,000 spectators, making it the most attended Arabian horse race in Scandinavia’s history.
Victory for Farida P
Farida P, a mare sired by Al Mourtajez out of Hania Dea by Majd Al Arab, is owned and trained by Pieter Dekkers and was ridden by jockey Fabian Lefebvre. She completed the 1,500-metre turf race in 1:38.08 minutes, surging from behind in the final stretch to secure first place. This win marks her 13th career victory and her second UAE President’s Cup title, following her success in the Dutch round last year.
Wissam Al Khalediah, trained by Janusz Kozlowski and ridden by Per-Anders Graberg, finished second. Gindor de Bozouls, owned by Omar Jorjar and trained by Elizabeth Bernard Jean-François, placed third under jockey Mickael Forest.
Prestigious racing series
The UAE President’s Cup Series is organized under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court. Now in its 32nd edition, the series aims to support Arabian horse breeders and owners while preserving the breed’s heritage.
With a prize purse of €100,000, the Stockholm race was open to four-year-old and older horses and drew nine top contenders from across Sweden and Europe.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including His Excellency Faisal Al Rahmani, Secretary General of the Higher Organizing Committee, along with representatives from the UAE Embassy in Sweden and local equestrian associations.
Commenting on the race, H.E. Musallam Al Amri, a member of the Higher Organizing Committee, said:
“We are proud of the impressive success that the UAE President’s Cup continues to achieve across European tracks. The Swedish race has been a prime example of this success and reflects the Cup’s significance among Arabian horse owners and breeders around the world.”
