Etihad Airways has announced plans to launch direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Luxembourg, introducing a new air link between the Middle East and the European country. The service is scheduled to begin on October 29, 2026.

Abu Dhabi-Luxembourg flights

The airline will operate three weekly flights to Luxembourg Airport, becoming the first Middle East carrier to serve the destination. Etihad will also be the only airline offering nonstop flights between Abu Dhabi and Luxembourg.

The new route is aimed at meeting growing travel demand from Luxembourg and nearby markets, including Belgium, France and Germany, for direct access to Abu Dhabi.

Flight operations

Flights will be operated using the Airbus A321LR aircraft. Etihad said the aircraft will feature a three-class configuration, including First Suites, lie-flat Business seats with direct aisle access, and Economy seating.

The airline said the service will provide a direct travel option for both business and leisure passengers between the two cities.

Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer at Etihad Airways, said: “We are delighted to announce this landmark route, made possible by the launch of the A321LR last year. This incredible aircraft brings our guests a truly premium experience while allowing us to cater to markets which may otherwise be unserved. For the first time, Luxembourg will be directly connected to the Middle East, with Etihad as the only airline offering a nonstop link to Abu Dhabi.

“This route is about more than connectivity – it is about building new bridges between Europe and the UAE, unlocking opportunities for business, tourism and cultural exchange. Travellers from Luxembourg can look forward to convenient direct access to Abu Dhabi’s world-class attractions, luxury hotels and authentic Arabian experiences, while benefiting from seamless onward connections across our global network.”

Connectivity impact

The new service is expected to strengthen travel links between the UAE and Europe, supporting business travel between Abu Dhabi and Luxembourg, which is a key financial centre.

Passengers will also gain access to Etihad’s wider global network through Zayed International Airport, with onward connections to destinations across Asia, including Thailand, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia and India.

Luxembourg is the latest addition to Etihad’s expanding European network, as the airline continues to grow its international footprint.
