Government employees in the UAE will enjoy a four-day weekend for Eid Al Adha 2025, following an official announcement by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources.
Public sector holidays will begin on Thursday, June 5, and continue through Sunday, June 8, with work resuming on Monday, June 9.
Dhul Hijjah moon sighted
The dates were confirmed after the moonsighting committee observed the Dhul Hijjah crescent on Tuesday evening, marking May 28 as the first day of the Islamic month. As a result, the Day of Arafah will fall on June 5, and Eid Al Adha will begin on Friday, June 6.
Long weekend for public sector
The four-day holiday provides a long weekend for government workers across the UAE. Private sector holiday dates are expected to be confirmed separately by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
Eid Al Adha, one of the most significant Islamic holidays, marks the culmination of the Hajj pilgrimage and commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God.
