Al Warqa entry and exit point

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will open a new entry and exit point to Al Warqa from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road early next week, aiming to ease traffic and improve access to the residential area.

Faster travel times

The project is expected to significantly reduce travel time to and from Al Warqa — from 20 minutes down to 3.5 minutes — and cut trip distances from 5.7 km to 1.5 km. Once complete, it will support an additional 5,000 vehicles per hour.

RTA has also finished traffic improvements on Street 13 in Al Warqa 1, especially benefiting school zones and residential traffic.

Broader road upgrades

These changes are part of a wider internal road development plan covering 8 km. The works aim to improve traffic flow and road network efficiency in line with Dubai’s urban expansion and population growth.

RTA is also upgrading internal road networks in Al Warqa 3 and 4. This includes paving roads, building pedestrian paths and parking areas, and developing over 23 km of cycling tracks to promote sustainable transport.

Signalised junctions, safer roads

The next phase of work in Al Warqa 1 includes converting roundabouts into signalised intersections with smart traffic lights. This is projected to improve traffic flow by 30% and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Traffic enhancements have also been completed around major schools in Al Warqa 4, including 150 new parking spaces and secured entry and exit points. These measures have reduced congestion and school zone delays by up to 50%.

Housing project support

As part of support for the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment project in Al Warqa 4, RTA delivered internal roads, walkways, lighting systems, and vehicle access points for 136 residential villas. A 7.4 km cycling track was also added to support sustainable mobility.

RTA recently held a public engagement session with Al Warqa residents to present ongoing projects and gather feedback. “This approach demonstrates RTA’s commitment to listening to community voices, addressing their suggestions, and transforming them into practical solutions,” the authority stated.

These interactions helped guide key development decisions and translate them into completed infrastructure projects, improving mobility and quality of life in the area.
