Dubai Chamber forms Bulgarian Business Council to boost trade ties

Dubai Chamber of Commerce has announced the formation of the Bulgarian Business Council, a new body aimed at supporting economic cooperation between Dubai and Bulgaria and strengthening ties between the two business communities.

The council has been set up under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers and will focus on encouraging partnerships, supporting investment flows, and expanding collaboration across a range of sectors.

First council meeting

The Bulgarian Business Council held its first meeting recently at the Dubai Chambers headquarters. Discussions focused on identifying new business opportunities, supporting mutual investments, and improving connections between Bulgarian companies and businesses based in Dubai.

Participants also discussed the exchange of market data and expertise, as well as plans to organise joint business events to support bilateral engagement.

Trade and investment ties

The launch of the council comes as trade relations between Dubai and Bulgaria continue to grow. Non-oil trade between the two sides reached Dhs 777 million in 2024, marking a 5 percent year-on-year increase.

Business engagement has also expanded. During the first nine months of the year, 54 new Bulgarian companies joined Dubai Chamber of Commerce. This brought the total number of active Bulgarian member companies to 243 by the end of September.

Maha Al Gargawi, Vice President of Business Advocacy at Dubai Chambers, said: “The establishment of the Bulgarian Business Council represents an important step forward in the economic ties between Dubai and Bulgaria. The council will help build stronger partnerships between our business communities, unlock new opportunities for joint investment, and support the continued growth of bilateral trade.”

Business Councils operating under Dubai Chamber of Commerce represent companies and investors from specific international markets with operations in Dubai. The councils work closely with the chamber to support trade and investment and to develop long-term economic partnerships between Dubai and their respective markets.
