Nearly 400 residents affected by recent heavy rainfall in Sharjah were provided temporary accommodation through a joint effort between Arada Foundation and Sharjah Social Services Department.
The initiative supported 387 people who faced disruption due to the weather, with accommodation arranged at Nest Hotel Aljada in coordination with Sharjah Civil Defense.
The assistance was provided between March 25 and March 31, covering 363 adults and 24 children. Those affected were offered full-board accommodation, including meals, during the short-term disruption caused by the rainfall.
Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, Group CEO of Arada, said: “As one of Sharjah’s largest private-sector enterprises it is our duty to support both the community and local authorities during challenging times. We are focused on responding quickly and responsibly when support is needed, and will continue to provide assistance via the Arada Foundation’s emergency response fund wherever possible in the future.”
Previous efforts
This marks the second relief effort by the foundation in March. Earlier, it provided temporary accommodation to stranded travellers in Sharjah. Across both initiatives, more than 3,000 room nights were delivered, benefiting hundreds of adults and children.
The partnership also builds on earlier cooperation between the two entities. In April 2022, they worked together to provide temporary housing for 1,148 people affected by floods in the emirate.
Nest Hotel Aljada, which opened in December at Aljada, offers serviced accommodation designed for short-term stays, including students and visitors.
