Sharjah Airport has expanded its international network with the launch of a new scheduled service from Indian airline SpiceJet. The new route connects Ahmedabad Airport with Sharjah International Airport, offering greater convenience for travellers between India and the UAE.
Sharjah to Ahmedabad flights
The service, which started on February 5, 2026, will operate five times a week using Boeing 737 aircraft. This new flight aims to cater to the rising demand for air travel between the two destinations, providing more flexible options for passengers.
Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, expressed his satisfaction with the new connection. He stated that the addition of Ahmedabad to the airport’s network is part of its broader strategy to increase global connectivity, particularly with high-growth markets like India. “Sharjah Airport continues to invest in its facilities and services to enhance the passenger experience,” Al Midfa said. “Our goal is to offer more travel options and improve the overall efficiency of our operations.”
Sharjah has been a key destination for Indian travelers, whether for business, tourism, or family visits. Al Midfa also emphasized the airport’s ongoing efforts to strengthen long-term partnerships with international carriers to support growth and open new routes.
Expanding global presence
The new service to Ahmedabad follows a series of other recent additions to Sharjah Airport’s network, including routes to Krabi, Munich, Vienna, and Sochi. The airport has also confirmed direct flights to London will begin in March 2026.
Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer at SpiceJet, noted, “The launch of our Ahmedabad-Sharjah service is a significant step in SpiceJet’s international expansion. The strong demand between India and the UAE makes this route a valuable addition to our network.”
Sharjah Airport continues to expand its reach, having recently added more than 100 destinations globally and attracted new airline partners. The airport’s efforts also include improving operational efficiency, which has reduced passenger processing times and enhanced the overall travel experience.
Sharjah Airport Authority remains committed to building strong relationships with airlines and expanding its destination network. As part of its long-term vision, the airport aims to remain a leading regional travel hub, offering excellent services and a seamless experience for all travellers.
