Jebel Jais has temporarily closed all operations to carry out safety checks and maintenance after heavy weather affected the area earlier this month.
Weather impact checks
The closure follows significant weather conditions between December 17 and 19, which led to standing water in parts of the mountain. Authorities said targeted maintenance is needed to ensure all areas meet safety standards. As a precaution, sections of the access road are also closed while essential work is carried out.
All facilities at Jebel Jais will remain closed until further notice to allow specialist teams to complete inspections and safety assessments.
Activities suspended
The temporary closure affects all attractions and services, including the Jais Flight zipline, 1484 by Puro, Red Rock BBQ, Via Ferrata, Bear Grylls Explorers Camp, and yoga sessions at Jais Viewing Deck Park.
Officials said reopening will take place in phases once each area is fully assessed and deemed safe.
Safety advice issued
Visitors have been advised not to camp in wadis during the current period of unsettled weather. Recent rainfall has caused standing water in some areas, which may result in slippery paths and unstable rocks.
While hiking and climbing zones are not officially closed, assessment teams are currently reviewing conditions. Hikers and climbers have been urged to proceed with caution and avoid affected routes where necessary.
Donald Bremner, CEO of Marjan Lifestyle, said: “At Jebel Jais, responsible tourism means putting people, nature and safety first. Our mountains are one of the UAE’s most powerful natural assets, and protecting both our visitors and this environment is essential to ensuring they can be enjoyed for generations to come. Taking a cautious, phased approach allows us to maintain the highest standards while preserving the authentic mountain experiences that defines Jebel Jais.”
Authorities said maintenance teams are working on site, with updates to be shared through official Jebel Jais channels as work progresses. Once safety enhancements are completed, visitors will be able to enjoy the remainder of the Jebel Jais 2025–2026 season.
