Union Coop said its latest workforce figures show a continued rise in Emiratisation and women’s representation, underscoring the retailer’s focus on developing national talent.
Workforce progress
The cooperative said Emiratis now make up 38% of its employees, while women represent 25% of the total workforce. Union Coop described the numbers as part of ongoing efforts to align with the UAE’s goals of strengthening national participation in key sectors.
Mohamed Al Hashemi, CEO of Union Coop, said the results reflect long-term policies to support a skilled national workforce. He said these efforts contribute to the country’s wider plans for sustainable economic growth.
“We firmly believe in the potential of Emirati women and their vital role in advancing institutional performance and achieving our future vision,” Al Hashemi said.
He added that the cooperative aims to raise Emiratisation levels further in the coming period. According to him, Union Coop provides a flexible work environment designed to support professional development and work-life balance, especially for women.
Ongoing initiatives
Union Coop said it continues to attract young Emirati talent through training and development programmes that support growth across its departments. The cooperative noted that its approach is aligned with the UAE’s focus on empowering citizens and expanding women’s roles in leadership.
The organisation said it will introduce new initiatives aimed at increasing the participation of both Emirati men and women in decision-making roles as part of the country’s long-term development plans.
