The Jumeirah has announced a planned restoration programme for the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, aimed at preserving the landmark’s design and interiors for the long term.
The project will be carried out in phases over around 18 months. It will focus on carefully enhancing the hotel’s interior spaces while maintaining its original design identity.
The programme follows more than 25 years of continuous operation since the hotel opened in 1999.
The restoration will be led by interior architect Tristan Auer, who is known for his work on high-profile hotels and heritage spaces. He founded his Paris-based studio in 2002 and has worked on projects including Hôtel de Crillon in Paris and Les Bains Douches.
Jumeirah CEO Thomas B. Meier said the Burj Al Arab represents ambition, craftsmanship, and long-term excellence. He said the restoration marks a new chapter that will preserve the property as part of Jumeirah’s landmark collection of iconic hotels.
Since its opening, Burj Al Arab has become one of Dubai’s most recognisable landmarks, known for its sail-shaped design and luxury offerings. The hotel features 198 suites and interiors that include marble, gold leaf, and Swarovski crystals.
It has received several international recognitions, including being named a top city hotel in the Middle East and North Africa by Travel + Leisure and earning a five-star rating from Forbes Travel Guide in 2023.
