Arada has awarded a construction contract worth Dhs145 million to Dubai-based Civic Builders Trading & Contracting LLC for a major new sports complex at its Dhs35 billion Aljada community in Sharjah.

New sports destination in Sharjah

The complex will be built across a 400,000-square-foot landscaped park and will feature a full-size football pitch, smaller 5-a-side pitches, basketball, padel tennis, volleyball, squash, and badminton courts. Cycling and jogging tracks, as well as adventure play areas for children, are also part of the plan.

Two underground parking levels will serve the facility, aimed at easing access for visitors and residents. Additional features include a water play zone and two dining outlets, among them Reformatory Lab, an Australian coffee brand recently introduced to the UAE.

Completion by 2026

Civic Builders has begun work on the project, with completion scheduled for the end of 2026.

Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, Group CEO of Arada, said: “The delivery of this world-class sports complex is in line with our goal to enable an active, healthy lifestyle for residents and visitors to Aljada. It’s also another addition to the world-class amenities we continue to build across the community, which consistently enhance quality of life and increase long-term value for our homeowners.”

Expanding Aljada community

The new sports complex will join other major facilities at Aljada, including a business park, the upcoming Madar Mall, and a cultural and performing arts centre designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando.

Aljada spans 24 million square feet and will eventually include 25,000 homes. The community currently houses around 20,000 residents, with 7,500 homes already completed and another 2,000 under construction.

Completed amenities include two phases of the Madar family entertainment district, the Nest student housing complex, and the SABIS International School-Aljada, alongside several retail, dining, and leisure options.
