flydubai has launched direct flights to Iași, Romania, becoming the first UAE airline to offer this route. The new service will operate twice a week, adding Iași as the carrier’s second destination in Romania after Bucharest.
Expanded Romania network
The airline also announced an increase in its Bucharest flights, moving to a triple daily service from late October. This brings flydubai’s total frequency to Romania to 21 weekly flights.
Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, said: “Romania has long been a significant market for us where we have continued to see steady growth since starting flights in 2012.”
Iași welcomes first flight
The inaugural flight landed at Iași International Airport with a traditional water cannon salute. Local officials and airport representatives attended the welcome event.
Romeo Vatră, General Manager of Iași Airport, said: “The launch of flydubai’s direct flights between Iași and Dubai marks a significant milestone for our airport… Iași Airport is the only airport in the Moldova region offering direct connections to the United Arab Emirates.”
Flight schedule and fares
Flights to Iași will run on Tuesdays and Fridays from Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport. Emirates will codeshare on the route.
Return fares from Dubai start at Dhs 1,600 in Economy and Dhs 8,000 in Business Class. Fares from Iași start at EUR 380 in Economy and EUR 2,000 in Business.
Earlier this week, flydubai also began flights to Chișinău in Moldova and plans to add Vilnius and Riga to its European network in December.
