The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has increased its outreach activities aimed at improving tax awareness and simplifying procedures for businesses and individuals across the UAE.
Growth in awareness events
In the first half of 2025, the FTA conducted 85 awareness activities, benefiting 28,000 participants. This marks a 21% rise compared to 70 events held during the same period last year.
The Authority said the increase is part of its effort to ensure better understanding of tax procedures and reduce knowledge gaps.
Of these events, 53 were held virtually—up from 43 in the first half of 2024—while 24 took place in person, slightly fewer than the 27 in-person events conducted during the same period last year.
Stakeholder engagement focus
The FTA confirmed that it continues to support the second phase of the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme. This includes steps to improve digital integration and enhance user experience across its services.
Awareness activities have also included Customer Councils in various emirates. These sessions bring together business representatives and stakeholders to discuss tax procedures and offer suggestions for improving services and removing redundant processes.
Zahra Al Dahmani, Director of Taxpayer Services at the FTA, said: “As part of our ongoing efforts to diversify awareness tools and communication channels in line with current needs, we continue to engage the business community by incorporating their ideas and suggestions into the FTA’s sustainable development plans. These efforts are aimed at maintaining the highest levels of efficiency, quality, and flexibility while simplifying and streamlining procedures.”
Digital tools and new initiatives
New initiatives launched in 2025 include the “Tax Talks” workshops, which engaged 72 participants across three sessions. Two sessions on tax certificates reached 1,330 participants, while six workshops on the EmaraTax platform were attended by 2,044 participants. In addition, two workshops on recent tax updates attracted 1,824 attendees.
Al Dahmani added: “The FTA has launched new awareness campaigns and programmes to introduce its services and initiatives and has continued to expand its core awareness activities.”
She noted that the FTA’s broader efforts focus on legislative updates and digital transformation to speed up service delivery, reduce paperwork, and improve accessibility for taxpayers.
