Etihad Airways has announced plans to launch flights to seven new destinations as part of its strategy to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s global connectivity and boost point-to-point travel to the UAE capital.

New destinations

Starting in March 2026, the airline will begin flights to Almaty (Kazakhstan), Baku (Azerbaijan), Bucharest (Romania), Tbilisi (Georgia), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), and Yerevan (Armenia).

Flights to Medina (Saudi Arabia) are scheduled to begin earlier, in November 2025.

According to the airline, tickets for the new routes will go on sale in the coming days.

Supporting Abu Dhabi growth

The announcement brings the total number of new destinations launched by Etihad in 2025 to 29. The airline previously introduced year-round and seasonal services to several cities, and has already started flights to Prague, Warsaw, Sochi, and Atlanta this year. An additional 13 routes are expected to be added by the end of 2025.

Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, said: “Our goal is clear, we want to bring more people directly to Abu Dhabi. These new routes connect us to fast-growing, culturally rich regions and will help stimulate demand for tourism and trade in the UAE’s capital.

“From the spiritual significance of Medina to the historic charm of Tbilisi and Yerevan, and the modern vibrancy of cities like Baku and Almaty, each destination adds depth to our growing network and attracts travellers with diverse interests.

“With these seven additions, Etihad will have launched 29 new routes in a single year – a remarkable milestone that reflects our ambition and commitment to Abu Dhabi’s growth.
Whether for business or leisure, guests can expect a seamless journey and world-class hospitality that reflects Etihad’s elevated service. These connections make it easier than ever to experience everything Abu Dhabi has to offer.”

The expansion news comes shortly after Etihad revealed three new summer-only destinations for 2026: Krakow (Poland), Salalah (Oman), and Kazan (Russia), scheduled to operate during peak travel months.

Cultural and tourism highlights

Each of the newly announced destinations brings distinct appeal. Medina, a key religious site in Islam, draws global visitors with its spiritual and historical significance. Cities like Tbilisi, Yerevan, and Baku are known for their cultural heritage, unique architecture, and growing tourism sectors. Meanwhile, Almaty and Tashkent offer a mix of Central Asian history and modern city experiences.

Etihad’s continued network growth aligns with Abu Dhabi’s broader goals to position itself as a leading destination for tourism, business, and international connectivity.
