Etihad Airways has launched direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Atlanta, expanding its US operations and linking the UAE capital with a key city in the southeastern United States.
The inaugural flight landed at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on July 2, making it Etihad’s fifth destination in the US, alongside New York City, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Boston.
New route details
The Abu Dhabi–Atlanta route is initially operating four times a week, with daily service scheduled to begin in November 2025 due to strong early demand.
The route is served by the Airbus A350-1000, known for its fuel efficiency and quieter cabin environment.
Etihad said the decision to expand service quickly followed “record-high load factors and remarkable early bookings.”
Preclearance and convenience
Passengers flying from Abu Dhabi benefit from the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Preclearance facility at Zayed International Airport. It allows travellers to complete U.S. immigration and customs before departure, enabling a domestic arrival in the U.S.
Business and tourism links
The airline aims to serve a mix of business travellers, tourists, and those visiting friends and family. The route is also expected to attract visitors from the US Southeast to Abu Dhabi, known for its cultural sites, beaches, and leisure attractions.
“Atlanta is a dynamic city with deep cultural, economic and aviation significance,” said Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer at Etihad Airways.
“This new service enhances access to the southeastern United States while offering seamless connections across the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Asia.
“With U.S. Preclearance at Zayed International Airport, guests can enjoy the convenience of arriving in Atlanta as domestic travellers. We’re delighted to bring our award-winning experience to guests travelling to and from Atlanta.”
Aircraft features
The Airbus A350-1000 used on the route includes 44 private Business Class suites with full-flat beds, wireless charging, and 18.5-inch entertainment screens.
The aircraft also has 327 Economy Smart Seats with recline functionality, 13-inch screens, and Bluetooth audio options. All passengers receive complimentary chat access via onboard Wi-Fi, with full browsing available as an upgrade.
