Air Arabia will increase its flights between Sharjah and the Maldives to twice daily starting October 27, 2025, the airline announced.

The route connects Sharjah International Airport with Velana International Airport in Malé. The decision follows a year of operations on this sector and comes in response to growing travel demand between the UAE and the Indian Ocean destination.

More travel flexibility

The move is aimed at providing greater convenience and flexibility for both leisure and business travellers heading to the Maldives, a popular holiday destination among UAE residents.

Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia, said: “We are glad to further strengthen our presence in the Maldives with this increased frequency, offering travellers even greater connectivity and flexibility. The step to double our flights reflects the growing demand for air travel to this popular destination. We remain committed to providing our customers with reliable, affordable, and value-driven air travel, while expanding our network to meet the evolving needs of our passengers.”

Growing regional demand

Air Arabia, based in Sharjah, is the Middle East and North Africa’s largest low-cost carrier. The expanded schedule is expected to support growing tourist traffic and improve travel access to the Maldives from the UAE and the wider region.
