UAE to build two football stadiums on top of mountain

In an announcement, His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, disclosed plans to construct new stadiums for two UAE football teams situated in elevated mountain locales.

Expressing admiration for the performance of Sharjah’s clubs in the UAE’s ADNOC Pro League during the 2023–2024 season, Dr. Sheikh Sultan extended the offer of new stadiums to Kalba Club and Khorfakkan Club.

During a phone call on Sharjah Radio and TV’s “Direct Line” program, Dr. Sheikh Sultan stressed the significance of club emblems in representing the identity of their respective towns in the UAE, while also highlighting their importance to Sharjah residents.

He stated, “We extend our congratulations to the Sharjah clubs that exhibited resilience in the ADNOC Pro League. Recognizing their performance, there will be accolades bestowed upon them. Some have already received their honors, while others await theirs. We are actively engaged in fortifying these clubs.”

Kalba Club

Dr. Sheikh Sultan further remarked, “Observing the matches of Kalba Club and engaging with them at the stadium, it was evident that despite their efforts, fortune did not favor them. It is our hope that those who encounter setbacks will redouble their efforts. I guarantee Kalba a stadium situated amidst the cool mountain peaks, 850 feet above sea level. This location boasts a temperature variance of approximately 10 degrees and is characterized by humidity-free conditions, all of which significantly influence performance.”

Khorfakkan Club

Regarding Khorfakkan Club, he added, “Given its location amidst hot mountains, we have slated the construction of another stadium in Khorfakkan City, positioned at an elevation of 900 feet.”

Dr. Sheikh Sultan emphasized the importance of club emblems accurately reflecting and representing the cities they hail from, from their names to the preservation of their respective legacies.
