The UAE is reporting a notable uptick in summer tourism this year, with hotel occupancy rates ranging between 60 to 70 percent in July and early August, according to a report.
Despite high temperatures, residents and international visitors are drawn to the country’s range of cultural events, shopping promotions, and family entertainment options.
The season’s momentum is being driven by competitive hotel offers, major indoor events, and strong infrastructure, alongside continued perceptions of safety and comfort.
Focus on family tourism
Cities like Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah have seen increased footfall due to festivals and entertainment aimed at families and tourists from across the region. In the capital, the 21st Liwa Dates Festival drew over 144,000 visitors, while global events such as the 6th IMMAF Youth World Championships hosted more than 1,000 athletes from 60 countries.
Dubai is running Dubai Summer Surprises until August 31, offering raffles, shopping deals, and family entertainment. In Sharjah, Sharjah Summer Promotions continues to support the emirate’s tourism and retail sectors.
Safety boosts visitor confidence
Security and stability remain key draws for visitors. The UAE consistently ranks high in global safety and quality-of-life indices. Public services and transport infrastructure also contribute to a smooth and welcoming experience.
Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan affirmed that the UAE is experiencing an exceptional summer tourism season, underscoring its distinction as a global destination that combines modernity, comfort, and security, thanks to a fully integrated environment that ensures premium tourism, smart infrastructure, and meticulous organisation.
Officials credit the summer tourism gains to the country’s broader development strategy.
Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan highlighted that security is a central factor in making the UAE a preferred family destination, where residents and visitors alike can enjoy public facilities, nightlife, and smooth intercity travel in a tolerant, culturally open, and respectful environment.
He also linked current success to national planning: “These achievements are the result of the wise vision of the UAE’s leadership, led by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is keen to consolidate the country’s position as a prosperous and secure nation that embraces innovation across all sectors and places people at the heart of its priorities through investments in quality of life and societal stability.”
