Sharjah paid parking in 7-day zones

Sharjah City has introduced advanced smart parking services, as announced by the municipality on Sunday.

These services use artificial intelligence to automatically detect the number plates of vehicles as they enter parking areas. Drivers can then pay for parking through the Mawqef app. Payments can be made using either an e-wallet or a credit card.

In addition to hourly parking, users can reserve spaces for periods ranging from one day to one year. The system also offers options to pay for weekly or monthly parking, providing greater flexibility for drivers.

Here’s a simplified version of how the system works:

  • Vehicle license plates are automatically recorded upon entering a parking area and linked to the system.
  • Drivers can use the “Mawqef” app to view available parking spaces.
  • By selecting their registered license plate in the app, drivers can check outstanding fees and make payments via credit card or e-wallet.
  • Drivers can also purchase parking subscriptions for durations from one day to one year.
