Visitors and residents strolling along the Abu Dhabi Corniche will soon notice new robot helpers keeping the area clean.

The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has introduced a fleet of autonomous cleaning vehicles called Robosweepers, designed to tidy up public spaces without human drivers.

These smart machines use sensors and advanced navigation to follow set routes, sweeping pavements, squares, and pedestrian zones efficiently. By reducing the need for manual cleaning, they help keep public areas hygienic while allowing workers to focus on other important tasks.

“This technology shows how we are using innovation to improve city life,” said Dr Saif Sultan Al Nasri, Acting Undersecretary at the Department of Municipalities and Transport. “It helps us manage public spaces smarter and enhances the well-being of everyone in the community.”

Abdulla Hamad Al Ghfeli, Acting Director General of ITC, added that this project fits Abu Dhabi’s wider goal to invest in green and smart solutions, making the city cleaner and more sustainable for future generations.

Building a smarter future

The Robosweepers were developed by K2 subsidiary Autogo, reflecting Abu Dhabi’s commitment to using cutting-edge technology to improve everyday life. Sean Teo, Managing Director of K2, said, “We’re proud to work with Abu Dhabi to bring innovative robotics to public services and support the city’s vision for a smarter, greener future.”

As Abu Dhabi leads in planning and eco-friendly transport, these robotic cleaners represent a small but meaningful step toward creating more efficient, clean, and pleasant public spaces for residents and visitors alike.
