Private companies told to let staff work from home due to unstable weather in UAE

The UAE’s ministry has advised private companies to let their employees “work from home” on Monday, February 12.

This comes as the weather in the country is unstable. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has encouraged private sector companies to be flexible with their working arrangements following alerts from the weather department.

Residents of the UAE have been cautioned about the severe weather conditions, with six out of seven emirates experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall along with lightning and thunder on Sunday. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has reported rain in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah, Ajman, and Ras Al Khaimah.

“Necessary measures need to be taken by companies to ensure outdoor work, if necessary to resume, complies with the occupational health and safety requirements. Companies also need to ensure the health and safety of workers commuting to and from outdoor work locations, the ministry said in a statement.
