Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed its direct flights from Dubai to Skardu, with the inaugural flight scheduled for Friday, May 30.
This exciting development offers residents of the UAE and travelers from around the world a convenient gateway to explore the breathtaking landscapes of Gilgit-Baltistan.
To commemorate the occasion, a cake-cutting ceremony was held at the PIA office in Dubai, attended by Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan. The event also welcomed members of a foreign tourist group traveling on the inaugural flight, highlighting the growing international interest in Pakistan’s northern regions.
PIA Regional Manager Sarmad Aizaz and his team hosted the event, celebrating this significant step toward boosting tourism and strengthening people-to-people ties between the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan.
The resumption of this route follows a successful trial period when PIA first launched direct services in August 2023.
Given the overwhelming demand and positive feedback from passengers, PIA decided to make this service a permanent fixture. The weekly flights will operate every Friday, departing from Dubai at 4:25 AM and arriving in Skardu at 8:40 AM, with a flight duration of approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes .
Skardu, nestled in the heart of the Karakoram mountain range, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, including the majestic K2, the second-highest peak in the world. The region offers a plethora of attractions, from serene lakes and deserts to towering mountains, making it a haven for adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers alike .
This initiative aligns with PIA’s broader commitment to enhancing travel options and promoting tourism in Pakistan. With the resumption of direct flights from Dubai to Skardu, travelers now have easier access to one of the most scenic destinations in the world.
