Dubai continues to lead the way in smart travel with the launch of the world’s first “Red Carpet” smart corridor at Dubai International Airport (DXB).

The new system is the result of a collaboration between the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) and Dubai Airports.

Passport control in just seconds

The “Red Carpet” corridor allows passengers to complete passport control in as little as 6 to 14 seconds, without needing to present a passport, boarding pass, or any travel document.

How it works

The system uses artificial intelligence and biometric facial recognition to verify travelers’ identities:

  • No documents required

  • Up to 10 passengers processed at once

  • Seamless movement with zero stops

All passenger data is pre-verified before arrival, allowing for smooth and secure passage. Any special or exceptional cases are sent for manual review to maintain strict security standards.

Compared to traditional systems that handle one person at a time, the “Red Carpet” corridor drastically reduces wait times and increases airport capacity. It’s a major step forward in improving the passenger experience at DXB.

Supporting Dubai’s smart travel vision

The launch of this high-tech corridor supports Dubai’s ongoing mission to become a global leader in smart travel and innovation.

It also reinforces Dubai International Airport’s title as the world’s busiest airport for international passengers, a position it has held for 11 consecutive years.
