Dubai’s Expo City is hosting one of the largest celebrations of Pakistan’s Independence Day to mark the country’s 78th anniversary. The event, organized by Emirates Loves Pakistan in collaboration with the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD), is set to become the biggest of its kind globally.
UAE and Pakistan unity celebrated
The celebration was officially inaugurated by Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, who thanked the UAE government for its continued support. He was joined by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, along with other diplomats, Emirati dignitaries, and members of the vibrant Pakistani community in the UAE.
“This is the biggest Pakistan Independence Day celebration in the world,” said Ambassador Tirmizi, highlighting the massive turnout expected. Over 60,000 people have already registered for the event, which promises to showcase Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage.
Cultural extravaganza planned
The day-long celebrations, set to run from 11:00 AM until midnight, feature a packed program of performances and activities. Renowned Pakistani artists, including national superstar Sahir Ali Bagga, Sufi rock singer Natasha Baig, and storyteller Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, will take the stage. The event also includes folk music, traditional dance performances, art exhibitions, and a variety of Pakistani cuisine, offering an immersive cultural experience.
The event is a significant step up from last year’s Independence Day gathering, which saw 15,000 attendees at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Due to the overwhelming demand, the organizers have moved the celebration to Expo City’s larger venue this year.
A tribute to unity and progress
Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai, praised the Pakistani community for their contributions to the development of the UAE and acknowledged the hard work of the event organizers. He urged the community to continue respecting the laws and norms of the UAE.
Dr. Faisal Ikram, President of PAD, also shared his thoughts during the event, emphasizing the importance of unity and progress. “We honor the sacrifices made by the Muslims of the subcontinent in their quest for an independent homeland. Today is a reminder of the value of community spirit,” he remarked.
The event highlights the strong bonds of friendship between Pakistan and the UAE, offering a platform to celebrate Pakistan’s independence while embracing the unity of the two nations.
