Abu Dhabi school bus driver permit

The Integrated Transport Centre (AD Mobility) in Abu Dhabi has announced that students may be banned from using school buses if their parents refuse to sign the official parent pledge form.

Bus suspension for misbehavior

Students can also lose transport access for one semester if they:

  • Break safety rules or put others at risk

  • Misbehave with fellow students, the driver, or the bus supervisor

Parents must be notified in both cases before action is taken.

Key school responsibilities

Schools are required to:

  • Provide enough buses and seats for all students

  • Appoint a transport coordinator and bus supervisors for children under 11

  • Maintain emergency contact info for all transported students

  • Educate students on safe bus behavior

  • Avoid extra fees beyond those approved by ADEK

  • Follow official safety and risk management plans

  • Work only with licensed operators

Maintenance of buses must not be done on school grounds.

Parent & student obligations

Parents must:

  • Sign the pledge to receive children under 11 on time

  • Pay for any damages caused by their child

  • Report misconduct or cleanliness issues on the bus

Students must:

  • Arrive on time at pick-up points

  • Stay seated and wear seatbelts

  • Avoid unsafe or disruptive behavior

  • Never exit the bus before the proper stop

Schools can request to opt out of providing transport if student numbers are too low and the service is not financially viable. A supporting study must be submitted.
