Nakheel, part of Dubai Holding’s real estate division, has awarded a Dhs 810 million contract to Jan De Nul Dredging LTD for marine work at Palm Jebel Ali.
This contract involves dredging, land reclamation, beach profiling, and sand placement to support the development of villas across the island’s fronds.
Palm Jebel Ali project timeline
Jan De Nul Dredging, a key player in the Jan De Nul Group, will carry out these marine works, which are expected to be completed in just over two years. Initial efforts are focused on preparing the first eight fronds, which should be ready by early 2025 for the start of villa infrastructure and civil works.
In addition to this, Nakheel has recently begun two major infrastructure projects, including a new public road connecting Palm Jebel Ali to Sheikh Zayed Road and improvements to existing roads and lighting.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has highlighted Palm Jebel Ali as a major new development that will offer luxury amenities and help drive Dubai’s economic growth. This project supports the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and marks a significant expansion in the Jebel Ali area.
Khalid Al Malik, CEO of Dubai Holding Real Estate, emphasized the importance of Jan De Nul Dredging’s role, stating, “Partnering with Jan De Nul Dredging reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation.” He added that the project aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and aims to provide a luxurious waterfront lifestyle with a focus on quality living and sustainability.
Future vision for Palm Jebel Ali
Last year, Palm Jebel Ali introduced over 700 villas in Phase 1, showcasing eight distinctive styles that merge indoor and outdoor living in a coastal setting. The ongoing marine and infrastructure work will support the timely delivery of these homes by late 2026 and enhance Palm Jebel Ali’s status as a major residential and leisure destination.
The island will eventually span 13.4 kilometers with 16 fronds and 91 kilometers of beachfront, in line with Dubai’s plan to expand public beach access.
Nakheel’s projects are crucial to fulfilling Dubai’s vision for growth and development, contributing to the emirate’s iconic portfolio of master communities and residential areas.
