Dubai to host 232 major international events

As a leading regional events hub, the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) announced that 232 major international events would take place in Dubai over the next few years, which will boost the local economy and enhance Dubai’s reputation as an international business and tourism destination, according to WAM.

Mahir Abdulkarim Julfar, Executive Vice President of the DWTC, said that the business outlook for 2023 is optimistic, based on positive signs in the first quarter of 2023.

Dubai hosted 4.67 million visitors in the first quarter of 2023, up 17 percent from 3.97 million in the same period last year, Julfar told the Emirates News Agency (WAM). This progress has enhanced Dubai’s reputation as a leading destination for business tourism and conferences, with the DWTC hosted 36 events in the same period of 2023, up from 25 events in 2022, he added.

The centre’s exhibitions in 2022 performed remarkably well, attracting 12,000 exhibitors, a 35 percent rise from the previous year, and drawing more than 37,000 companies to the events hosted by the centre, he further added.
