Dubai’s public transport system continues to grow, with an average of 2.2 million daily passengers using services across the emirate in 2025, up from 2 million in 2024.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) reported that the total number of users for public transport, shared mobility, and taxis reached 802.1 million riders, marking a 7.4% increase from the previous year.

The increase reflects growing demand across Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, public buses, marine transport modes, taxis, and shared mobility services, including app-based vehicles and on-demand buses. The total trips for the year reached 167.3 million, with 120 million taxi trips and more than 41 million shared mobility trips.

October and November saw the highest passenger volumes, with 15.1 million trips each month, while October 2025 recorded 72.8 million riders, followed by November at 72.6 million and December at 71.4 million. The slightly lower December numbers reflect changes in travel patterns during the holiday season.

RTA Director General His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer emphasized that this growth demonstrates a structural shift towards public transport and shared mobility. “The rise in usage highlights the success of RTA’s strategy to integrate transport modes, support sustainable urban planning, and improve quality of life,” he said.
