Azizi Developments, one of the UAE’s leading private developers, has signed a landmark agreement with the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) to build and maintain mosques across Dubai.
As part of the deal, Azizi will fund the construction of five mosques and sponsor the maintenance of ten others for the next five years, with a total investment of Dhs 80 million.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Mirwais Azizi, Founder and Chairman of Azizi Developments, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
Mosques locations
The mosques will be located in prominent areas, including Azizi Riviera in MBR City and Venice in Dubai South, as well as three additional locations across the emirate, which will be revealed soon.
This initiative aligns with the UAE’s broader vision of promoting philanthropy, community engagement, and sustainability.
In addition to the construction and maintenance efforts, the agreement will also establish endowments (Waqf) connected to the mosques to ensure their long-term sustainability.
Giving back to community
Mr. Azizi shared his thoughts on the initiative: “In this holy month of Ramadan, I am pleased to announce the construction of five mosques, as well as a special donation to the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department to help maintain ten mosques in Dubai.
“We see it as important to give back to the communities we operate in, with Dubai – our home that has supported and given us so much throughout our journey – being our priority.
By building and maintaining these mosques, with even more to come in the future, we aim to create spaces that foster community, reflection, and connection, enhancing the spiritual and social fabric of the emirate.”
This initiative reflects Azizi Developments’ ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community development. The company’s past charitable contributions include Dhs 100 million to the 1 Billion Meals initiative, Dhs 600 million to the Mother’s Endowment campaign, and Dhs 3 billion to the Fathers’ Endowment campaign, the largest donation ever made by a private entity in the UAE.
