Dubai, a melting pot of over 200 nationalities, is known for its multicultural vibe, with a large number of cricket enthusiasts, particularly Indians and Pakistanis.

On February 23, 2025, many fans were left disappointed after failing to secure tickets to witness the high-stakes India vs. Pakistan match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

However, that didn’t stop them from coming together. Since Sunday was an off-day, cricket lovers across the city gathered in homes, restaurants, and other places to watch the game. The air was electric, as Indians and Pakistanis alike celebrated the spirit of cricket and diversity in the UAE.

In a heartwarming display of this unity, one such gathering was hosted by Anis Sajan, the Vice Chairman of Danube Group and a well-known cricket aficionado, fondly called “Mr. Cricket UAE.”

At his home, the event transformed into a mini stadium, where over 100 passionate fans gathered to watch the intense India-Pakistan clash. With stadium tickets scarce and expensive screening options at clubs, Sajan’s residence became the ultimate cricket destination for fans looking to experience the match in an exciting, community-filled atmosphere.

But Sajan’s gathering was more than just a viewing party — it was a full-blown cricket festival. Fans arrived hours before the match began, enjoying friendly games on the specially designed indoor cricket field.

“It was incredible to see the enthusiasm and love for the game,” said Anis Sajan, who earlier predicted India’s win over Pakistan.

“From the pre-match cricket games to the intense banter during the match, every moment was filled with excitement. Fans cheered, celebrated, and debated, but in the end, they came together for the love of cricket. This was exactly the kind of experience I had hoped to create.”

Despite the fierce rivalry between the two teams, camaraderie prevailed among the fans. As the final ball was bowled, both Indian and Pakistani supporters stood side by side, applauding the teams’ efforts.

“At the end of the day, it’s not about which team wins—it’s about winning hearts,” Sajan added.

‘Better than stadium’

Fans echoed this sentiment. Amir Khan, a Pakistan supporter, said, “We tried getting stadium tickets but couldn’t. Honestly, this was even better — same electrifying atmosphere, an amazing crowd, and Anis Sajan’s hospitality made it truly special.”

Priya Gehani, a dedicated India fan, shared, “The ambience here was unbelievable — the DJ, the dhol, the food, everything made it feel like we were at the stadium. And to top it off, witnessing India’s victory in this setting made it even sweeter!”

Anis Sajan’s event showcased the true essence of cricket, where passion for the game brought people together, regardless of nationality.

India secured a six-wicket victory over Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy, with Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 100 runs leading the chase.
