Abu Dhabi plans to open 150 new parks in 2024 and renovate existing ones. This move supports Abu Dhabi’s living strategy to improve residents’ quality of life, led by the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT).
The DMT aims to promote healthy lifestyles by developing parks across Abu Dhabi. These parks will cater to residents’ diverse needs, offering entertainment, play areas for children, seating, BBQ spots, sports facilities, and areas for people with special needs.

The new parks will feature outdoor activities like volleyball, badminton, cricket, parkour, basketball, and football, tailored to each area’s needs.
Additionally, the DMT has provided free internet at 580 locations, including parks, beaches, and public buses. Six parks have been transformed into smart parks with modern technologies, enhancing the emirate’s quality of life.
The “Hala Wi-Fi” network, in partnership with UAE telecom providers, aims to boost the emirate’s digital infrastructure, making Abu Dhabi a smarter city with widespread public WiFi coverage.
Recently, Masdar City’s Masdar Park achieved the “Exemplar” design rating under the Estidama Public Realm Rating System, becoming the second community park in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, and the region to achieve this rating. This recognition signifies that plans for Masdar Park have met or surpassed the Estidama system’s economic, environmental, social, and cultural standards for sustainability.
