In an extraordinary display of martial arts prowess, Asma Alhosani etched her name in history as the first Emirati woman to clinch a gold medal at the prestigious Asian Games.
The thrilling achievement took place on the second day of the jiu-jitsu competitions at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China.

The UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Team had more reasons to celebrate on this momentous day, with three medals secured in total.
Alongside Asma Alhosani’s historic gold, Shamsa Alameri and Mahdi Alawlaqi contributed to the team’s success by securing bronze medals. These impressive performances showcased the formidable skills and dedication of Emirati athletes on the international stage.
Medal Tally Reaches New Heights
With another day left in the jiu-jitsu competitions, the National Jiu-Jitsu Team, sponsored by the Mubadala Investment Company, has tallied an impressive total of seven medals.
This medal haul includes two gold, three silver and two bronze medals, solidifying their position as a powerhouse in the martial arts arena.
Acknowledgment from International Peers
The UAE delegation to China received accolades from the Kazakh Minister of Youth and Sports, Yermik Marzhikbayev, who commended the UAE’s role in promoting sports and fostering excellence in athletes.
Additionally, Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Deputy Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and Head of the UAE delegation to China, extended an invitation to the minister.
He invited him to attend the forthcoming 15th edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, scheduled to take place from November 1 to 10 at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City.
