More than 390,000 passengers travelled through Sharjah International Airport in one week as summer travel reached its peak ahead of the new academic year.
Between August 10 and 16, the airport recorded more than 175,000 arriving passengers, around 151,000 departing passengers and over 66,000 transit passengers.
The busiest day was August 15, when total passenger traffic reached 48,859. This included 25,251 arrivals and 23,608 departures.
Sharjah Airport handled 1,175 arriving and 1,175 departing flights during the week, serving more than 100 international destinations.
Cairo, Doha, Dhaka and Amman were among the busiest destinations, reflecting continued demand for travel to regional and international markets.
The latest figures come as Sharjah Airport manages increased passenger traffic during the summer travel season, when many residents return from holidays ahead of the new school year.
The airport expects to handle about three million passengers and around 19,000 flight movements during July and August.
An integrated operational plan, developed with the airport’s strategic partners, has been put in place to manage the higher passenger volumes, maintain smooth operations and ensure teams are prepared for the peak travel period.
