GIG Gulf adds war cover to motor and fleet insurance in UAE

GIG Gulf has launched an optional war cover add-on for comprehensive personal motor insurance and selected commercial fleet policies in the UAE, giving customers the choice to include protection against war-related damage that is typically excluded from standard motor insurance policies.

The insurer said customers can choose from three levels of cover based on their requirements and budget. The add-on is available for new and renewed comprehensive personal motor policies, as well as selected commercial fleet policies.

New insurance option

War-related damage has traditionally been excluded from standard motor insurance policies. GIG Gulf said the new offering provides customers with multiple coverage options instead of a single add-on, allowing individuals and businesses to select a level of protection that suits their needs.

The company added that the cover can be purchased online when buying or renewing an eligible comprehensive motor insurance policy. Existing policyholders can request the add-on by contacting the GIG Gulf customer care team, while commercial fleet customers can enquire about the option when purchasing a fleet policy.

“Real commitment means being there for the moments that matter most to our customers. That’s why we’ve added war cover to motor and fleet policies, giving people and businesses the peace of mind they deserve,” said Paul Adamson, CEO, GIG Gulf.

Support for fleets

The insurer said the new option is also aimed at businesses operating vehicle fleets, including logistics companies and corporate fleet operators, which have had limited access to this type of insurance cover in the past.

According to GIG Gulf, the new offering is intended to provide businesses with an additional option to protect their vehicles against evolving risks while continuing normal operations.

The company said eligibility for war cover will be subject to underwriting assessment and the applicable policy terms and conditions.
