Etihad Airways is gearing up for a busy summer season, expecting to welcome over seven million passengers through Zayed International Airport in the coming weeks.

Peak travel expected

The surge in passenger numbers follows the launch of Etihad’s seasonal routes to popular summer destinations including Malaga, Antalya, Santorini, Nice, and Mykonos.

“We are looking forward to hosting millions of guests at Zayed International Airport as they head off on their summer holidays,” said Shaeb Alnuaimi, Etihad’s Director of Airport Operations. “At every stage of the journey, we’re focused on delivering the highest standards of safety, comfort, and service.”

Early check-in advised

To help manage the expected traffic, Etihad is urging travellers to arrive at least four hours before departure during peak periods. Online check-in is available 30 hours ahead of scheduled departure via the airline’s website or mobile app. After checking in online, passengers can use automated bag-drop machines at the terminal.

Additional check-in options

Etihad also offers off-site check-in and bag-drop locations across the UAE:

  • Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal (24 hours)

  • YAS Mall – The Fountains (10am–10pm)

  • Mussafah, Al Arzaq Street (10am–10pm)

  • Al Ain, Lulu Hypermarket (10am–10pm)

Home and arrival services

Etihad’s home check-in, operated by MORAFIQ, allows passengers to complete the check-in process from home starting at Dhs 185. This includes baggage check-in and boarding pass delivery up to five hours before departure.

The Land & Leave service provides baggage delivery to any Abu Dhabi address within three hours of arrival, allowing passengers to exit the airport directly.

Extra travel options

Travellers can purchase upgrades such as:

  • Economy Extra Legroom seats

  • Neighbour-free Seat option (available up to 72 hours before departure)

  • First and Business Class Lounge access (up to 90 minutes before departure)

Baggage and pre-clearance

Economy Class passengers can carry 7kg of hand baggage; First and Business Class guests are allowed 12kg. Cabin bags must not exceed 56cm x 36cm x 23cm.

For flights to the United States, Etihad reminds passengers to check in at Terminal A at least four hours before departure. Guests using the US Customs and Border Protection Pre-clearance facility should arrive 90 minutes early (First, Business, and Residence class) or two hours early (all others). The facility closes one hour before flight time.
