Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has rolled out new regulations aimed at improving the cleanliness of public spaces and promoting a sustainable environment. The city’s residents and visitors are being urged to comply with these rules to ensure a cleaner and more responsible community.

The DMT has specified fines for actions that are considered harmful to public cleanliness. These measures target issues such as improper waste disposal, with escalating penalties for repeated violations.

  1. Cigarette butt disposal

    • First Offence: Dhs500 fine for disposing of cigarette butts outside designated containers.
    • Second Offence: Dhs1,000 fine for repeat offenders.
    • Third Offence and Beyond: Dhs2,000 fine for continued violations.
  2. Food and drink waste disposal

    • First Offence: Dhs500 fine for discarding food or drink waste in non-designated areas.
    • Second Offence: Dhs1,000 fine.
    • Subsequent Offences: Dhs2,000 fine or more.
  3. Improper waste dumping

    • First Offence: Dhs1,000 fine for dumping waste in unauthorized areas.
    • Second Offence: Dhs2,000 fine.
    • Subsequent Offences: Dhs4,000 fine or more.

These new regulations reflect the city’s commitment to maintaining its cleanliness and promoting sustainable practices, with a focus on encouraging responsible behavior among the public.
