Sharjah Airport welcomes over 8.3 million travellers in six months

Sharjah Airport is enhancing its competitiveness and leadership in the aviation industry by improving operational performance and meeting global service standards. In the first half of 2024, the airport recorded a 12.4% increase in total passengers, welcoming over 8.3 million travellers compared to the same period last year. This growth reflects the airport’s commitment to providing exceptional service.

Increased flight movements

During the same six-month period, Sharjah Airport also saw a 12.2% rise in aviation movements, with a total of 52,702 flights. This increase not only supports passenger travel but also contributes to the overall growth of the airport’s operational capabilities.

Significant cargo growth

Sharjah Airport has made notable strides in cargo handling as well. Cargo operations grew by an impressive 40.7%, reaching 97,200 tons in total. Additionally, sea-air cargo operations increased by 17.5%, totaling 7,400 tons. This growth underscores the airport’s vital role in supporting the logistics and supply chain sectors.

Expanding connectivity and destinations

The airport’s efforts to expand connectivity have led to service to over 100 international destinations through 26 airlines, including air cargo flights. Recent additions to the destination list include Greece and Poland via Air Arabia. This expansion strengthens Sharjah’s position in the global aviation landscape.
