Union Coop says it is maintaining stable product supply and pricing despite ongoing global supply chain pressures, as retailers continue to face higher freight costs and logistical disruptions.

The UAE-based cooperative said its direct sourcing model and supplier relationships have helped ensure consistent stock levels across its stores. CEO Mohamed Al Hashemi said the company remains focused on securing essential goods while adapting to market changes.

“Direct engagement with suppliers has enabled us to maintain competitive pricing and reliable stock levels. While we have traditionally relied on independent sourcing, we remain open to selective collaboration with other retailers, such as shared shipments, where it supports uninterrupted supply,” he said.

Union Coop noted that rising shipping costs remain a key issue for the retail sector, driven by re-routing and ongoing logistical constraints.

“In response, we have adopted a more agile and proactive approach to logistics and sourcing to mitigate disruptions and maintain efficiency,” Al Hashemi said.

To reduce risks, the cooperative is expanding its supplier network and exploring alternative sourcing markets. It said flexibility has become a core part of its operations as global conditions continue to shift.

Union Coop also highlighted internal efforts such as stock monitoring, supplier coordination, and real-time decision-making to maintain product availability and pricing stability.

The retailer said collaboration between suppliers and retailers will remain important in addressing supply chain challenges, while competition continues to support product variety and price balance in the market.

“While customers may not see these complexities, our focus is to deliver a seamless and reliable shopping experience,” Al Hashemi added.
