UAE: Special court to hear property disputes of overseas Pakistanis

The Senate and National Assembly of Pakistan have passed a new law called the Establishment of Special Court (Overseas Pakistanis Property) Act, 2024.

The law protects the rights of Pakistanis living abroad. Chaudhry Salik Hussain, the Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, introduced this bill.

The law makes it easier for overseas Pakistanis to handle property disputes. They can now file their cases online, using a digital platform. The special court will also allow expats to present evidence through video calls or other approved methods, with supervision from officials at Pakistan’s embassies or consulates.

Importantly, cases in this special court will be resolved within 90 days. This ensures that justice is delivered quickly and prevents long delays, helping to protect the interests of overseas Pakistanis.

This new legislation shows the government’s commitment to supporting its citizens abroad and efficiently addressing their property disputes.
