In the wake of a powerful earthquake hitting Ishikawa Prefecture in central Japan, the UAE Embassy in Tokyo has urged its citizens in affected areas to exercise caution. The earthquake, with a preliminary magnitude of 7.6, triggered a tsunami warning and advisories for evacuation.

The embassy emphasized the importance of following safety instructions from Japanese authorities.

UAE citizens are urged to contact the embassy in emergencies through 0097180024 or 0097180044444. Additionally, citizens are encouraged to register in the “Tawajodi” service for updates and assistance.

Tsunami strikes coastal areas

Following the earthquake, a tsunami, approximately 1 meter high, struck parts of the Sea of Japan coast, with expectations of larger waves.

The Japan Meteorological Agency issued tsunami warnings for coastal prefectures including Ishikawa, Niigata, and Toyama.
