The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has announced the creation of 5,000 jobs through its wide-ranging development projects, underlining its impact on local employment and sustainable economic growth.

As Shurooq marks 15 years since its establishment, the authority highlighted that its Dhs 7.2 billion investments across real estate, tourism, hospitality, culture, and entertainment have not only transformed Sharjah’s landscape but also delivered tangible employment opportunities for thousands.

Job Creation through strategic partnerships

Of the total jobs created, 1,095 roles emerged through joint ventures with 10 local and international partners. These collaborations span across high-impact sectors, offering diverse career paths for Emiratis and residents alike.

Shurooq’s projects have supported job creation in construction, property sales, guest services, cultural tourism, and operational roles linked to eco-retreats, adventure destinations, and heritage attractions.

The authority has also supported the local economy by enabling the growth of small and medium-sized businesses.

Through the provision of affordable commercial spaces in strategic locations such as Heart of Sharjah, Al Heera Beach, and Khorfakkan, Shurooq empowers entrepreneurs and startups to launch and scale operations, thereby creating more local jobs.

Investments that attract talent and opportunity

In addition to direct job creation, Shurooq’s foreign direct investment (FDI) office, Invest in Sharjah, has helped attract 617 projects since its inception, leading to the creation of over 46,761 new jobs across sectors like advanced manufacturing, agri-tech, logistics, education, and GreenTech.

This achievement reinforces Sharjah’s growing position as a regional hub for high-value industries and skilled employment.

Through its integrated development strategy, Shurooq continues to contribute significantly to Sharjah’s workforce expansion and the UAE’s broader goals of economic diversification and resilience.
