An Indian expatriate living in Abu Dhabi has won a studio apartment in Dubai through the “Win Your Home in Dubai” campaign after making a purchase during a weekend shopping trip at Mall of the Emirates.
Swathy Santhosh, from Kerala, became the fifth winner of the citywide initiative, which is being organised by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) and Dubai Chambers.
Lucky purchase
Swathy, who works as a customer service agent in Abu Dhabi, moved to the UAE nearly a year ago after getting married. She had been planning to bring her husband and parents to the country to live with her.
During a visit to Dubai to buy a gift for her mother before a friend’s trip to India, she saw the campaign at Mall of the Emirates and decided to participate. She bought a pair of shoes and a handbag from Call It Spring, which qualified her for the draw.
Winner’s reaction
“When I received the call, I was completely shocked. I couldn’t believe that I had won a home in Dubai. I called my husband immediately, and he was so happy and excited! I came to the UAE alone because I wanted to create a better future for myself and my family, and winning a home in Dubai is more than a dream come true,” Swathy said.
“I don’t know yet what my plans are for the apartment, but I am grateful and excited for this new chapter. All I think about is reuniting with my husband and my parents,” she added.
