Preparations are underway for the fourth edition of the Mango Festival in Khor Fakkan, scheduled to take place from June 27 to 29, 2025, at Expo Khor Fakkan.
The event is organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) in collaboration with the Municipal Council of Khor Fakkan and Khor Fakkan City Municipality.
Focus on local produce
During a recent coordination meeting, the organising committee reviewed logistics and discussed ways to support local farmers and boost participation. The festival has grown into an important platform for showcasing UAE-grown mango varieties and promoting agricultural development in the Eastern Region.
Khalil Al Mansouri, Director of Government Relations at the SCCI, chaired the meeting. He stressed the importance of collaboration among government bodies, local farmers, and agricultural stakeholders to ensure the event’s success.
“The festival also aims to promote Sharjah’s agricultural capabilities, showcase premium local mango varieties, and conduct training workshops for farmers on the latest sustainable farming techniques, thereby improving productivity and quality standards to boost the competitiveness of local mangoes in the market,” Al Mansouri said.
Farmers and food security
Mohammed Khalfan AlNaqbi, member of the Municipal Council of Khor Fakkan, highlighted the essential role of farmers in supporting the country’s food security. He noted that the festival celebrates their efforts while also encouraging innovation and knowledge-sharing.
“This year’s edition of the festival will feature broad participation from local farmers and agricultural experts, in addition to competitions aimed at fostering excellence in farming, promoting knowledge exchange with experienced farmers, and introducing modern agricultural technologies,” AlNaqbi said.
Community engagement
The meeting included discussions on how to increase engagement with the local farming community. Proposals were shared for additional cultural and social activities to create a more inclusive and family-friendly visitor experience.
The Khor Fakkan Mango Festival continues to position itself as a key event in Sharjah’s agricultural calendar, promoting local produce and sustainable farming practices.
