Residents in Dubai can now renew their residency visas in just minutes, thanks to the new AI-powered digital platform Salama, launched by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).
This new system simplifies the visa renewal process, offering a quicker and more efficient alternative to traditional methods.
Visa renewal with Salama platform
Once residents log into the Salama platform, the system automatically recognizes their personal details and shows their dependent’s visa status, along with the number of days left before expiration.
Users can then select the desired renewal duration, and the platform processes the request instantly, eliminating the need for paperwork and long wait times.
Faster and more efficient
Previously, the visa renewal process could take up to three hours, depending on document completeness. However, with Salama, the process now takes just one to two minutes, as long as all required documents are in order.
Currently, the platform is focused on renewing residency visas for individuals and their family members, making the process easier with just a few clicks. However, this is only the first phase. Plans for the second phase include expanding the platform’s capabilities to cover visitors, tourists, and additional GDRFA services.
Additionally, the platform will eventually be extended to businesses for smoother visa renewals for companies. The future developments will include integrating the smart channel and the GDRFA DXP application to enhance the process further.
The launch of the Salama platform reflects Dubai’s ongoing commitment to adopting cutting-edge technologies to improve residents’ lives.
With this digital upgrade, visa renewals are now faster, more convenient, and aligned with the city’s vision for a more efficient and accessible government service experience.
