Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN Group), in strategic partnership with Mohsin Haider Darwish (MHD Group), has unveiled plans for an ultra-luxury resort in Musandam under a new hospitality brand, ALIĒ NIVAS.

This bold development promises to place Oman prominently on the global luxury travel map.

The resort will offer a uniquely refined experience, setting a new benchmark for high-end hospitality that blends natural beauty with exceptional design and sustainability.

Oman’s national tourism strategy

Described as a product of effective public-private partnership, the project reflects Oman’s national tourism strategy to attract high-value travellers through immersive and environmentally responsible experiences.

“This project reflects OMRAN Group’s vision to harness Oman’s rich natural heritage in creating high-value tourism destinations that enhance the country’s global competitiveness,” said Hashil Obaid Al Mahrouqi, CEO of OMRAN Group. “It also embodies our aspiration to be the partner of choice for leading investors and hospitality operators, contributing to sustainable projects with long-term socio-economic impact.”

Lujaina Mohsin Darwish, Chairperson of MHD-ITICS, added: “We are honoured and proud to be part of this one-of-a-kind project, that fuses innovation, environmental stewardship, and exceptional guest experiences, while at the same time lends to the development of one of Oman’s most inspiring natural locations.”

A new standard of elegance

Set against the dramatic cliffs of Musandam, ALIĒ NIVAS will feature 30 secluded cliffside villas with panoramic sea views, private spa suites, and a Michelin-starred restaurant. Designed with haute couture sensibility, the boutique resort caters to a discerning clientele seeking exclusivity, authenticity, and transformative experiences.

The resort will be operated by Van de Bunt International (VDBI), known for nature-integrated luxury retreats. To mark this occasion, the group is launching ALIĒ NIVAS as a standalone brand, with the Musandam resort as its flagship.

“ALIĒ NIVAS represents a singular experience and the essence of our philosophy to offer unparalleled hospitality in the world’s most remote and mesmerising locations,” said Dr. Peter van de Bunt, Founder and CEO of VDBI.

Beyond luxury, the development is committed to sustainability, aiming for global certifications such as LEED, and integrating renewable energy and eco-friendly construction methods. The resort is also expected to create new jobs, engage local SMEs, and support entrepreneurship in the region.
