Emirates has unveiled a new livery featuring a large UAE flag on its Airbus A380, highlighting national pride and unity. The design on aircraft A6-EVG extends the airline’s iconic tail pattern and marks a tribute to the spirit and cohesion of the UAE.
New livery design
The special livery displays the UAE flag in a bold 3D design that stretches across both sides of the aircraft. The aircraft has already flown to New York and Brisbane and will operate to other A380 destinations across the Emirates network.
Plans are also underway to apply the flag design to an Emirates Boeing 777, the airline’s next largest commercial aircraft.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, said: “We’re proud to respond to HH Sheikh Mohammad’s call to raise the flag as a tribute to the UAE’s unity and strength. Since our inception, every Emirates aircraft has proudly carried the UAE flag wherever it flies. This new livery is our way of honouring a home that has given us so much, and a nation that stands as proof of what is possible when we collectively choose, every day, to reach higher. There is no greater stage for our flag than in the skies, and no greater privilege for Emirates than to fly it with pride.”
National significance
The initiative is part of Emirates’ ‘This Flag Will Always Fly’ campaign, aligned with HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s nationwide call for citizens and residents to raise the UAE flag as a symbol of unity.
The UAE flag has long been a hallmark of Emirates aircraft, painted on the tail of every plane in the fleet. The airline has also used special liveries to mark national events, including a tribute to the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in 2017 and designs for Expo 2020 Dubai.
