Retailers and food distributors across the UAE are increasing preparations for Eid Al Adha, anticipating a surge in demand for fresh meat during the festive period.
Logistics and sourcing
Leading retail groups, including Lulu Group, have activated logistics operations to maintain supply across their outlets. Lulu has arranged chartered flights to import fresh meat from key international markets. Customers can choose from locally sourced Arab UAE lamb as well as imported lamb from Somalia and India, with prices starting from Dhs 859.
All livestock is freshly and locally slaughtered in accordance with Shariah standards at approved municipal slaughterhouses. The meat is cut, packed, and prepared according to customer preferences, with delivery available on the next day of Eid.
Global supply network
Through its international sourcing network, Lulu obtains meat from countries including Australia, New Zealand, India, and South Africa. “All products are procured from accredited farms and slaughterhouses that comply with strict halal practices and international food safety standards,” the retailer said.
In addition to traditional fresh meat, demand is rising for ready-to-cook and value-added items such as marinated meats, barbecue selections, and pre-packed festive meals, reflecting evolving consumer preferences during the holiday season.
Lulu Group has also launched special Udhiya and Qurbani deals across its stores. The curated range includes Somali sheep and goat, UAE Arabic lamb, Indian goat, Naimi lamb, and baby camel options, all locally slaughtered and Shariah-compliant.
