flydubai has announced the resumption of direct daily flights to Damascus International Airport, starting June 1, 2025.
The flights will depart from Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport (DXB), marking the first UAE national carrier service to Syria in over a decade.
First return after 12 years
The decision follows the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority’s approval to restart air travel between the two countries, issued in April 2025. flydubai originally began flying to Damascus in June 2009 before suspending operations 12 years ago.
“We are very pleased to be the first national carrier to resume flights to Syria after 12 years of halted operations,” said Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai.
“Damascus holds a special cultural and historical significance within the region and we are excited to serve the city again with a direct daily service, highlighting our commitment to supporting the United Arab Emirates’ efforts to foster regional connectivity.”
Travel options for peak season
flydubai noted that the service is timed to offer passengers travel options ahead of Eid Al Adha and the summer holiday season.
“The relaunch of flights to Damascus will enable passengers from the UAE and around the network to enjoy convenient travel options to the market,” said Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations and E-commerce.
“After working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure that all necessary operational standards have been met ahead of the relaunch, we look forward to welcoming passengers back on board again soon.”

Return Business Class fares from Dubai to Damascus start from Dhs 10,000, while Economy Class Lite fares begin at Dhs 2,000.
flydubai currently operates a fleet of 88 Boeing 737 aircraft and serves over 130 destinations across 56 countries, many of which were previously underserved markets.
