Emirati mountaineer Saeed Al Memari has successfully reached the summit of Kanchenjunga in India, marking a significant achievement in mountain sports for the UAE.

Standing at 8,586 metres, Kanchenjunga is the highest mountain in India and the third-highest in the world.

Four-day expedition

The summit was reached after a four-day climb that began last Thursday from the mountain’s main base camp. Al Memari’s successful ascent adds to his record of high-altitude achievements.

At the peak, Al Memari raised the UAE flag along with a portrait of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ministry of Defence flag, and the logo of Calidus Holding, which officially sponsored the expedition.

This accomplishment highlights the growing presence of Emirati athletes in global extreme sports and reflects the UAE’s support for high-performance outdoor pursuits.
