Emirates has started installing a new adjustable headrest on its Economy Class seats, aiming to improve neck support and comfort for passengers, especially on long-haul flights.
The airline’s new U-Dream Headrest is a multi-way adjustable support system designed to provide head and neck support during sleep or relaxation. The feature is being added to Emirates’ Airbus A350 aircraft and most Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft.

The U-Dream headrest is part of Emirates’ Z400 seat by Safran Seats. It includes padded leather support with flexible side wings that fold inward to help keep passengers’ heads in a comfortable position. The design can also be adjusted vertically and tilted to suit different passenger heights and body types.
The headrest has been tested and approved to meet aviation safety standards set by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

The U-Dream changes the game if the person wants to sleep – by supporting the neck in full. No more neck pillows needed. It’s another innovation that shows our commitment to customers and cements our Economy Class as the best.’
Fleet rollout
The U-Dream headrest is currently installed on three Airbus A350 aircraft, with more installations underway. Emirates said all its A350 aircraft will have the feature installed by the end of the year in collaboration with Safran Seats.
The headrest will also be installed on all 270 Boeing 777X aircraft ordered by Emirates. Installation on retrofitted Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft will begin from 2027.
Economy upgrades
Emirates said its Economy Class offering includes features such as widebody aircraft cabins, personal entertainment screens, Wi-Fi connectivity, multi-course meals and onboard services.
The airline operates its flights using Airbus A380, Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 aircraft. Its A350 Economy Class cabins feature 3-3-3 seating, 13.3-inch 4K screens, USB-C charging and adjustable headrests.
Emirates also provides access to its inflight entertainment system, offering more than 6,500 channels of movies, TV programmes, music, podcasts and live sports.
The airline is also introducing Starlink connectivity across its fleet, allowing passengers to access faster internet services during flights.
Passenger services
Emirates provides complimentary meals and beverages on flights, with menus based on regional cuisines and special meals available for passengers with different dietary requirements.
The airline’s cabin crew represents 140 nationalities and speaks more than 70 languages. Emirates also offers services for families, children and passengers requiring additional assistance.
Through its Dubai hub, Emirates connects passengers across six continents and said it handles nearly three million bags every month with a 99.9% baggage handling success rate.
